We are proud to share that our student research project on pectin degradation received a Gold Medal at the 2025 iGEM Competition.
This project focused on developing a synthetic biology-based approach to break down pectin, a major structural polysaccharide found in plant cell walls and fruit waste. By exploring biological systems that can efficiently degrade pectin, the project aimed to contribute to sustainable solutions for agricultural waste management, food-processing byproduct recycling, and biomass utilization.
Receiving a Gold Medal at iGEM 2025 highlights the team’s strong research design, creativity, experimental planning, and ability to connect biotechnology with real-world environmental and industrial challenges.
This achievement reflects the students’ dedication to advanced STEM research and their ability to apply synthetic biology concepts toward practical sustainability solutions.
Our team will continue to support students in developing high-quality research projects for international science competitions such as iGEM.
Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
